Fostering and Volunteering

Cleaning and Socializing
We are always in need of volunteers who can assist with cleaning enclosures and socializing with the rabbits at our main shelter in Sooke. When volunteers assist with cleaning, our team can focus their attention on the welfare of the animals and finding them homes. We are flexible when it comes to working with people’s availability. This is a great pressure-free way to help out.

Transporting
The team members who run Amy’s Bunny Barn have full time day jobs and rely on the invaluable support of volunteer transporters in getting rabbits to and from their veterinary appointments during the week. This role is well-suited for individuals with flexible schedules, retirees, or those who enjoy driving.

Community Events
Help out at our adoption or fundraising events! When we are in need of additional hands, we post these events on our social media platforms. Please keep an eye out on social media or our events section on the home page for volunteer postings.
Become A Foster
Fostering presents a deeply fulfilling opportunity that doesn’t entail the lifelong commitment of adopting an animal. At Amy’s Bunny Barn, we provide you with all the supplies your foster rabbit needs and cover all medical expenses. As a home and foster-based rescue organization, we heavily rely on foster homes to create a secure haven for the numerous unwanted and abandoned rabbits that come into our care each year.
Fostering plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between rescue and adoption. When our rabbits enter a foster home, they have the opportunity to shine! We are able to gain valuable insights into their distinct personalities and behaviors. This environment provides each rabbit with the chance to receive more individualized attention, additional enrichment activities, and social interaction.
Furthermore, fostering serves as an excellent trial period to assess whether a rabbit is a suitable fit for your household. Many of our foster families have experienced a deep connection and affection for their temporary family members, leading them to make the heartwarming decision to transition from fostering to full adoption.
